Every kind of glory and abundance was given to you, and what was written was fulfilled: “The beloved ate and drank, grew broad and fat, and kicked.”
From this came jealousy and envy, strife and rebellion, persecution and disorder, war and captivity.
So the dishonored rose up against the honored, the obscure against the renowned, the foolish against the wise, the young against the elders.
For this reason righteousness and peace are far from us, because each person has abandoned the fear of God and grown dim-sighted in faith in Him, no longer walking in the ordinances of His commands or living in a way worthy of Christ. Instead, each follows the desires of his own evil heart, having taken up unrighteous and ungodly jealousy, through which death also entered the world.
