Take care, beloved, that His many acts of kindness do not become a judgment against us if we fail to live in a way worthy of Him, doing what is good and pleasing before Him in harmony.
For it says somewhere: “The Spirit of the Lord is a lamp that searches the inner chambers.”
Let us see how near He is, and that none of our thoughts or the reasonings we form are hidden from Him.
Therefore it is right that we should not desert His will.
Let us rather give offense to foolish and senseless people, who exalt themselves and boast in the arrogance of their words, than give offense to God.
Let us revere the Lord Jesus Christ, whose blood was given for us. Let us respect our leaders, honor the elders, instruct the young in the discipline of the fear of God, and guide our wives toward what is good.
Let them display the lovely character of purity and show the sincere intention of their gentleness. Let them make the graciousness of their speech evident through silence, and let them show their love not according to partial preferences but equally and reverently to all who fear God.
Let our children share in the discipline that is in Christ. Let them learn how powerful humility is before God, what pure love can accomplish before God, and how good and great His fear is, saving all who live reverently in it with a pure mind.
For He searches thoughts and intentions. His breath is in us, and whenever He wills, He will take it away.
