And pray without ceasing for others, for there is in them hope of repentance so that they may attain God. Allow them, then, at least through your deeds, to become your disciples.

In response to their anger, be gentle; to their boastful speech, humble-minded; to their blasphemies, offer your prayers; to their error, be steadfast in faith; to their savagery, be mild, not striving to imitate them in return.

Let us be found to be their brothers by our gentleness; and let us strive to imitate the Lord: who can endure more wrong, more deprivation, more rejection?—so that no plant of the devil may be found among you, but you may remain in all purity and self-control in Jesus Christ, both in flesh and in spirit.
