Having learned of the excellent order of your godly love, I rejoiced and chose to address you in the faith of Jesus Christ.

For since I have been counted worthy to bear a most God-honoring name, in the chains I carry I sing the praises of the Churches. In them I pray for the union of the flesh and spirit of Jesus Christ, who is our life forever; for the union of faith and love, than which nothing is better; and, above all, for the union of Jesus and the Father. If we endure in Him every assault of the ruler of this age and escape, we will attain God.
