My brothers, my love for you overflows, and in my great joy I watch over you—not I, however, but Jesus Christ. Bound in Him, I am all the more afraid, since I am still imperfect; but your prayer to God will perfect me, so that I may attain the lot for which I received mercy, having taken refuge in the Gospel as the flesh of Jesus and in the apostles as the presbytery of the Church.
And let us also love the prophets, because they too proclaimed the Gospel in advance, hoped in Him, and waited for Him. Believing in Him, they were saved, being in the unity of Jesus Christ—saints worthy of love and admiration, testified to by Jesus Christ and numbered together in the Gospel of the common hope.
